This course for lay counsellors is an introduction to the basic skills used by counsellors, from developing rapport to listening skills. The course includes opportunities to get practical, where even absolute beginners can grow and learn to counsel. The focus is on counselling adolescents.
In this course lay counsellors are trained in couple and marriage counselling skills. We explore the complexity of counselling two clients at one time, ethics around couples and marriage counselling and give practical tools to aid in counselling couples. The workshop will cover 2 different types of relationships. Firstly, romantic relationship both in and outside marriage. Secondly, the dynamics of the family system and the different relationships within the family system.
